Canada’s Highest Performing Tech Companies

After another strong year, StarDyne ranked among the best on the Branham300, the definitive listing of Canadian IT companies.

The 2013 Branham300 ranked StarDyne as one of the top technology companies in Canada. This is the fifth consecutive year that StarDyne has earned a place on the list. This year, based on 2012 revenues, StarDyne appears at number 100 on the Top 250 Canadian Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Companies, up from 114 last year and number 24 of the Top 25 Canadian Software Companies.

According to Branham, Canada’s ICT industry continued to move forward in 2012, albeit at a modest pace, as cumulative revenues for the Top 250 Canadian ICT companies increased by 0.46% to $83 billion. Despite losses due to merger and acquisition activity, growth can be found throughout this year’s ranking, with 74.80% of listed companies experiencing revenue increases in 2012, and more than half (54.0%) of this year’s top tech players posting double-digit gains.*

January 02, 2012 – Pacific Alliance is excited to announce that Shawn McLeod has joined our team as a Director of Services. Shawn has a Bachelor of Geography in Spatial Sciences and is a Certified GIS Professional.

Shawn has extensive experience in GIS and Asset Management. He spent the last 13 years as the GIS Manager with the District of North Vancouver and 5 years prior to that as a Technologist within that organization. He built a progressive GIS Dept for them and earned them 5 awards in leadership, innovation, and excellence in IT including the prestigious United Nations Sasakawa Award for Disaster Risk Reduction, the UBCM Leadership in Innovation Award for Technology and the 2009 Esri Award of Excellence.

Steven Eder joined Pacific Alliance Technologies as an Account Manager. Steven has 25 years of experience in technical sales environments with SAP (formerly Business Objects / Crystal Decisions) and Xerox. He is a graduate of the University of Waterloo in Sciences and Geography, and has a passion for mapping. Starting next year, Autodesk will make 2 significant changes to their upgrade policy:

• Only 6 versions back remain upgradeable

• Only versions 2008 and newer will remain upgradeable. Owners of software from before 2008 who want the current version will need to purchase new licenses. Therefore, anybody with Autodesk licenses from 2007 and earlier, should consider of upgrading to the current version to maintain the existing 30% discount.

• All upgrades will have the same price

• Currently licenses 1-3 versions old pay 50% of the new license price for an upgrade. Next year that will go up to 70%, the same price as the 3-6 version old pricing. Therefore, anybody with Autodesk license versions 2012, 11, or 10 should consider upgrading to the current version to maintain the existing 50% discount.

The Structured Implementation Process (SIP) was developed by Pacific Alliance and refined through implementation engagements with a wide range of clients. The Structured Implementation Process consists of eight steps which take place over several weeks.

Requirements Assessment

Although there are similarities between implementations, every firm is different. To customize an implementation, Pacific Alliance will sit down with you to understand our project, people and processes.
Organization Roundtable
During the discovery phase, Pacific Alliance will set up a roundtable with all the stakeholders from your organization, at all levels, to meet and commit to a common understanding of what will determine the success of the implementation.

Essentials Training

Essentials Training is typically a 3-day hands-on, classroom-based course, available for each Revit product. Topics covered can be viewed on our course syllabus; however, based on the initial assessment, course material can be adjusted to meet specific requirements.

Project Set-up

It is recommended that the project team commence work on a project as soon as possible after Essentials Training. Proper set-up is critical to a successful start-up; an investment at the beginning can save much frustration later.

Specialized Training

Over the years, Pacific Alliance has determined that Essentials Training, while sufficient to get a project started, is not sufficient for solving detailed or complex problems that inevitably emerge when working on a project in Revit. It is recommended that users take Specialized Training on project-specific topics 1-2 weeks after the commencement of a project.

Collaboration Workshop

Teams involving architects, structural engineers and/or MEP professionals will meet to collaborate and understand the procedures for working together in Revit.

On-The-Job Mentoring

During the course of the project, Pacific Alliance strongly advocates scheduling regular, on-site or online mentoring with a Pacific Alliance technical consultant. This mentoring process is a unique and proven process offered by Pacific Alliance.

eviews & Project Tracking

The final step involves Pacific Alliance conducting periodic reviews, tracking a project’s process and conducting a final review at the completion of a project. Ongoing assessment is critical to ensure the success of a Revit implementation.
